1. PURPOSE AND ACCEPTANCE
These Terms of Use (hereinafter "TOU") govern access to and use of the Ivokan platform by learners (hereinafter "the Learner" or "you").
Ivokan is a service connecting learners with tutors for learning African languages through videoconference lessons.
By using Ivokan's services, you accept these TOU without reservation.
2. IVOKAN'S ROLE
Ivokan acts as an intermediary facilitating connections between learners and tutors.
Ivokan does not directly provide lessons but ensures:
- Coordination of sessions,
- Quality monitoring,
- Administrative management.
3. LEARNER RESPONSIBILITIES
You are responsible for:
- The accuracy of information provided during bookings,
- Honoring your commitments (attendance, payment, etc.),
- Immediately informing Ivokan of any problem or change in contact details.
Ivokan reserves the right to refuse access to its services in case of:
- Violation of these TOU,
- Inappropriate behavior towards a tutor or Ivokan staff,
- Fraudulent activity.
4. LESSON CONDUCT
4.1 Platforms Used
Lessons take place exclusively online via:

- A unique connection link is sent by email,
- Ensure you have a stable internet connection,
- Test your audio and video equipment.
4.3 After Each Session
You must confirm the lesson took place via the validation link provided by Ivokan.
5. PRICING
Ivokan reserves the right to modify its pricing with 30 days' notice.
Lessons already booked and paid for retain their original pricing.
6. PROHIBITIONS
It is strictly forbidden to:
- Make direct payments to tutors,
- Negotiate parallel rates,
- Bypass the platform's payment system.
Any violation of this rule results in immediate account suspension without refund.
7. CANCELLATIONS AND ABSENCES
7.1 Trial Lessons
Cancellation by the Learner:
- More than 24 hours before the lesson: free rescheduling,
- Less than 24 hours before: lesson considered completed, non-refundable.
Learner Absence:
- Absence noted after 20 minutes,
- Lesson considered completed, non-refundable.
Tutor Cancellation or Absence:
- The lesson will be rescheduled free of charge,
- You will be informed as soon as possible.
7.2 Subscription Lessons
Cancellation by the Learner:
- More than 24 hours before: rescheduling possible within the current month,
- Less than 24 hours before: lesson considered completed, cannot be rescheduled.
Learner Absence:
- Absence without prior cancellation = lesson considered completed, non-refundable.
Tutor Cancellation or Absence:
- Rescheduling at no charge,
- Information provided at least 24 hours in advance, whenever possible.
7.3 Force Majeure
In case of a force majeure event (serious illness, natural disaster, widespread internet outage, etc.):
- You must inform Ivokan promptly with supporting documentation,
- The lesson may be rescheduled without penalty,
- Each situation is examined on a case-by-case basis.
8. CONDUCT AND RESPECT
You commit to:
- Treat tutors with respect and courtesy,
- Be punctual,
- Maintain a constructive attitude,
- Not make offensive, discriminatory, or inappropriate remarks.
9. LEARNING ENVIRONMENT
You must:
- Have a stable internet connection,
- Participate from a quiet environment,
- Use functional audio/video equipment,
- Not record sessions without written authorization from Ivokan and the tutor.
10. ATTENDANCE AND COMMITMENT
To support your progress, you must:
- Actively participate in lessons,
- Complete suggested exercises,
- Communicate your goals and challenges,
- Inform Ivokan or the tutor of any problems encountered.
11. CONFIDENTIALITY AND DATA PROTECTION
11.1 Data Collection
Ivokan collects the following data:
- Name, email, phone, country,
- Payment data,
- Lesson history, evaluations, progress.
11.2 Usage
Your data is used to:
- Provide and improve services,
- Manage your account and bookings,
- Communicate about your lessons,
- Ensure quality monitoring,
- Comply with our legal obligations.
11.3 Protection
Ivokan commits to:
- Protect your data,
- Not sell it to third parties,
- Share it only with relevant tutors,
- Comply with applicable regulations.
12. EVALUATION SYSTEM
12.1 Evaluations
You are encouraged to:
- Evaluate lesson quality,
- Provide constructive feedback,
- Report any incident.
12.2 Use of Feedback
These evaluations allow Ivokan to:
- Maintain quality,
- Improve services,
- Help other learners choose their tutor.
12.3 Public Reviews
By posting a review, you accept that:
- Your first name and review will be displayed publicly,
- Ivokan may use them for promotional purposes,
- Reviews must be honest and respectful.
13. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
13.1 Platform Content
All elements of the Ivokan platform (logo, texts, graphics, software, design) are the exclusive property of Ivokan and protected by copyright.
13.2 Educational Content
Tutors' educational resources remain their property.
You commit to:
- Not reproduce, distribute, or sell them,
- Use them only for your personal learning.
14. IVOKAN'S LIABILITY
Ivokan commits to:
- Provide quality service,
- Maintain platform availability,
- Select competent tutors.
Ivokan cannot be held responsible for:
- The pedagogical quality of lessons,
- Learning outcomes,
- Technical problems beyond its control,
- Tutors' actions outside the platform.
14.1 Limitation of Liability
Ivokan will not be responsible for indirect or consequential damages related to the use of its services.
15. TERMINATION
15.1 By the Learner
You can end your subscription at any time:
- 30 days' notice before renewal,
- Lessons already paid for remain due,
- No pro-rata refund.
15.2 By Ivokan
Ivokan may suspend or terminate an account in case of:
- TOU violation,
- Abusive behavior,
- Fraudulent activity,
- Non-payment,
- Bypassing the payment system.
15.3 Consequences
- Access suspended immediately,
- No refund for unused lessons in case of fault,
- Data retained in accordance with the Privacy Policy.
16. MODIFICATION OF TOU
Ivokan reserves the right to modify these TOU at any time.
In case of substantial modification:
- You will be informed by email or notification,
- Continued use of the service constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
